Clash of Clans - haven't used my phone for a month and now everything is gone!

Hi there
I would be happy if someone can tell me this- I haven't used my phone for a month and now everything i built up is gone! How is that possible?

Also- do i need an account for this game or is it just download the game and play?

You need to link it to your Google Play account if you want your data to be backed up

If you have connected your google account with coc before, then it is not a problem. Just connect it again with the game and it will load it.
But if you have not connected it before, then you will have to play it from the beginning.

connect your account with that Email which you registered earlier. Try to use same operating system as Android or IOS.

You will get the same town hall where you left last time.
