I started my first semester in University and I am majoring in IT. I used my excess loans to buy
myself a MacBook Pro 2015 model 15'' display. I'm very happy with my purchase and I have been
using more out of it daily than ever. However, I am choosing some programming classes on next
semester so I am afraid that my Mac won't cooperate with me If I were to run programs like C++, Visual Basic, and possibly Kali Linux.

Despite of how powerful this MacBook Pro's specs has under the hood, I am concerned about my future usage of this Mac. My friend, who is pursuing the same major as me, told me that If I were to run programs like I've mentioned earlier, it may suffer some of the hardware limitations that can prevent programs to run. So with my Tax Return money, and to play it safe, I was able to purchase myself a Lenovo Thinkpad t520, since I have researched about this computer's durability, power, available upgradability features, and more hardware compatibilities to offer. It's relatively as powerful as my Mac, not the slightly but medium average.

As of now, I own both of these laptops, they're without a doubt the best laptops In my opinion, but something in my instinct tells me that I should either return one of them instead of just keep them both. But in my head, one of them should go. Since I used more of my mac and I want to get my money's worth, and I feel guilty if I were to let go of my mac, since I've spent more money on this computer and since I'm planning to use this laptop till I graduate in a couple of years forward. I was also thinking if I had an Internship somewhere in the future, that I could use my t-520 for some serious work also, that way I could get the best out of them. But as of now, its too early to think that. The T-520 is $220 while my MacBook Pro is around $2000. For now, which fate do you think should be for my laptops? Thanks for reading this essay of a question and I appreciate any feedback from any of you!

It depends on what you're doing in IT. Your MacBook should be fine, you can write C++ with Apple's Xcode. As for Visual Basic, there is none for Mac, only Windows as it's Microsoft. For Linux, you can just use VMware for that. I'm sure that IT jobs provides the computer/laptops you need, even if you're working from home. I think you should just sell the T-520 as the specs on that laptop aren't worth keeping.
