I bought the HP ProBook 650 G1 Notebook 4 years ago and over the years I have upgraded a few things such as getting more ram and replacing my HDD with a SSD. So I put quite a lot of money in my laptop. Recently I have come to the conclusion that I have got a very bad graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4600) for gaming. Since I put quite a lot of money in my laptop I don't really want to buy a new desktop.

Online I have read that you can get an external graphics card, but I am not sure how to do that and if it is possible with my old laptop. Can I get some advice on what to do?

Hi,

HP probook 650 G1 does not have an upgradable MGPU. (HD 4600 graphics are built into the intel processor)

The probook does not have a thunderbolt 3 connector so you cannot use an external GPU dock like the powercolour devil box.

If you want better graphics your only option is to get a new system.
I doubt it would work on that laptop considering from what you've listed it doesn't have any dedicated GPU currently.

They're generally pretty cheap connectors and their's nothing stopping you from giving it a shot. However, even if it does work you need to remove the internal antenna.

What is your CPU? You can get a eGPU with an adapter, a GPU (IDK what your CPU is but a 1050ti should work and another power brick and cord to power the GPU separately. So you might need to grab a 200w Power brick. IDK if there's any power brick with that much watts but considering there are laptops with 1080SLI, it should be easy to find a big power brick. Hope I helped :]
