My acer is having an issue where when it's unplugged the screen will randomly go black and to sleep.

All I have to do is hit the power button once or twice and it will come back but its happening every few minutes!

Any help is appreciated!

Oh I see. I thought you meant you stop for a minute and then it does it.

If that is the case, first I have to ask if it is still under warranty, as if it is, I would then contact the manufacturer about it first.

If it isn't, then you yourself (or take it to someone) to open it up and check the ribbon cable that connects the display. Make sure it isn't damaged, bent, torn, pinched, etc. And also disconnect it (both ends) and then carefully reconnect it. That may well fix the issue.
1. Go into "Control Panel" and then click "Power Options".

2. Next click the "Change plan settings" next to the power plan you are using, and on the next screen click "Change advanced power settings".

3. In this new window, scroll through and check all the listed options for your plan. The change you need to make should fall under "Display", or "Battery", "Sleep", etc. However it can turn up anywhere, so check them all.

4. Once you have made the changes you wish to make, click "Apply" and then click "OK".

5. Close both windows and reboot the computer.

No I dont think you're understanding, it's not like I'm leaving it idle and its doing that because its on a setting. It's happening in the middle of using the computer! The screen just out of nowhere goes black.
