Hi. This is my first time posting on this forum. Heres my scenerio/issue. Ok, I have a samsung flatscreen, a ps3 and a soundbar. My soundbar will except audio through either a 3.5 mm jack or red and white rca. My tv has no audio out just hdmi inputs. This is what i want to do. I want the sound to go from my ps3 to both the bar and the tv at the same time.
My idea was to get hdmi splitter (1male, 2female) and a hdmi to rca. Put the male end of the splitter directly into the ps3, then the hdmi to rca in one female part of splitter to the soundbar, and a normal hdmi from the other female to the tv.
Will this work. I want to make sure before I buy everything for potentially no reason.

Solution
to pull off audio i'd likely put a hdmi audio extractor in line with your connection to the tv.

ps3 - extractor - tv

this will allow you to pull audio from the ps3. if your tv has zero audio outputs (no rca, optical or even hdmi (arc)) then there is nothing you can do to pull audio from the tv itself.

i can not promise that using passthrough on the extractor will give audio from both its analog output and the hdmi output but its a start at least.

Thank you for your response. I will keep this in mind. I actually just ordered an hdmi splitter cable and an hdmi to rca converter.

I'll put the male end of the splitter directly into the ps3 then from the 2 females, one will go directly to the tv and the other will go to the converter, then rca to the soundbar.

If this does not work i will certainly consider this as an option. Once again, thank you for replying.

I just looked up the audio extractor and appear to be essentially the same thing as what im attempting only i could have purchased one less item. We'll see how it goes.

Ill be sure to post my results.
