Hello. I have yamaha htr 5850 that I would like to use as a pre amp when listening to stereo only, I'm not sure what connection I should use to send a 2 channel signal to my external power amp

Ah. My bad, I misunderstood the question. I see what your wanting to do. Unfortunately, your receiver does not have a line level "pre amp" output to drive an external amp. You do have a "MD/CDR" output, but that output is before any signal processing or volume control, which would mean your power amp would run wide open all the time, and lack any kind of EQ or surround processing. There are adapters that take a speaker level signal and convert it to line level, but the sound quality will take a big hit. Otherwise you are gonna need a different receiver or an actual pre amp to do what you want.

Hi. I want to send a signal to an external power amplifier. I believed that there were pre out audio terminals. Same idea as the sub output but 2 channel, not mono. I hope I'm explaining myself properly. I want the external amp to power my mains. (which can get down to 2ohms, which is too low for the yammy), yet still control output signal to the amp.
