My friend hooked up my tv and vcr player and dvd player. I have a hdmi cable going from my tv to my cable box. I have a set of yellow and white coaxial cables going from vcr to dvd player. had it on channel 3 or av3 and the blue screen comes up like you would play vcr. I can hear the dvd playing but no picture. He had gone down past channel 1 to find video screen to play dvd
It looked simple.i can't do it. I push channel 1 and it goes right to av 2 or av 3 av 6 or av 8. I can play vcr but not dvd.please help

Solution
Sounds like the AV output of the DVD is connected to the line input on the VCR.
Select the input on the TV that the VCR is connected to, play a tape and make sure that picture and sound are OK.
If the tape plays fine then the cables from the VCR to the TV are correct.
If the tape doesn't play fine then one of the cable from the VCR to the TV is improperly connected.
Put a disc into the DVD. Select the line input on the VCR.
Check the cables from the DVD to the VCR. Since you are getting sound the video cable must be in the wrong jack on either the DVD or VCR.
Your friend should have confirmed that everything worked before leaving.
