My son is looking for a budget gaming laptop (that he can also use to do a little schoolwork and take with him when visiting grandparents - hence a laptop not a desktop).
We've come down to a choice between:
OMEN by HP 15-ax202na OR Dell Inspiron 7559
Both are around the same price (about £700).
Specs are:
Dell Inspiron 7559
GTX 960M 4GB
i7-6700HQ
8GB Ram (fairly sure it's DDR3, 1x8GB)
1TB HDD
Omen by HP 15-ax202na
i5-7300HQ
NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 (2 GB GDDR5 dedicated)
8 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (2 x 4 GB)
128 GB M.2 SSD and 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA
I know very little about gaming machines and the specs look very similar to me. The only obvious functional difference is that the Dell is very easy to open up (a single screw on the base) if he later wanted to add more RAM or upgrade the HDD.
