Hey,

I recently bought an Asus laptop (asus vivobook R541UA-DM985T). I noticed the fan keeps running and making noise, which is very annoying. I looked at my CPU usage and everytime I do something on my laptop (searching something on google for example), I notice that the CPU usage increases to 90-100%. The only programs I installed myself were Microsoft Office and FireFox, so there aren't a lot of programs installed and I really don't know what to do anymore.

These are the things I already tried (but didn't work):

- set my battery on energy saving mode
- disabled all the 'starting up' programs (dropbox etc)
- disabled superfetch and prefetch (my laptop has a SDD card)
- I tried to look for BIOS updates on the asus site but I couldn't find one for my laptop (I'm not so good with laptops so maybe I did something wrong)
- I tried to see if FanSpeed would work for me, but I think it isn't possible with my laptop model (again, I'm not sure if it really isn't possible)

Here are some of the specs:

Asus Vivobook R541UA-DM985T
RAM type: DDR4
Working memory: 4GB
Processor: intel core i3-6006U
Processor cores: 2
256 GB SDD
Windows 10 home

I really hope someone can help me with this problem as it's really annoying to study on this laptop and I already got complaints at the library due to the noise...

If you have any questions about my laptop, please ask me and hopefully someone has a solution for me.

McAfee was already installed and I also installed antimalware malwarebytes. I runned a scan with the latter one but it said there were no threads signaled.

I bought it 2 days ago and the fan noise was there from te beginning...

I went to the store where I purchased the laptop and they told me that is was normal with that model and they can't do anything about it. After explaining how annoying it was for me, they were kind enough to let me replace my laptop for another laptop of my own choice (which I am very happy about). So I guess my problem is solved.

Thank you so much for your quick replies and for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it! I wish you all the best
