So, coming from a razer headset, I have no idea what setting should I be using (as in 7.1, 5.1, stereo etc.) with the HyperX Cloud headset. When I had the 7.1 setting on I couldn't hear behind myself ingame and I didn't have any bass. And with the stereo setting I have bass but I can't tell where the sound is coming from ingame

Solution
The HyperX Cloud has much better audio plus better build quality. You shouldn't have issues identifying where footsteps are coming from using stereo, competitive players use stereo aswell.

Plus, your Kraken supports 7.1 virtual surround. The HyperX Cloud is a stereo 2-channel headset.

You can use 7.1 channel virtual surround with the HyperX Cloud using Razer's Surround software, but stereo beats virtual surround in the first place.

I'm messing around in the realtek sound manager. Aren't these headphones supposed to be better that the Razer Kraken?

I see lots of people are saying that the Kraken is way worse but with the HyperX Cloud I can't tell where the sound is coming from in-game or can I?

Thanks for clarifying this to me. I tested the stereo and yeah I can tell where the footsteps are coming from.
