I've got a little JoLida 202A integrated tube amp rated at 40 watts and now looking for a pair of decent speakers. The challenge is I'd like something in keeping with the mid-century style of our home. These will be in the living room with hardwood floors and a rug. Budget is $1,000-$1,500. I'm thinking looking for a pair of vintage JBL studio speakers, but that may be beyond the budget. Any ideas? I'm not set on vintage.

The Jolida is very nice sounding but you will probably need fairly high efficiency speakers (like the Klipsch).
Klipsch still makes new Heresy III speakers but they are about $2k a pair. Used ones should be easy to find as they have been making them forever.
I have heard them on the 60 watt Jolida and your 40 should play them loud enough. They do lack bass but you could add a powered subwoofer and hide it. The question is will you like the sound of them.
If there is a good audio shop near you give them a call. You can bring your Jolida with you so you can audition the speakers properly.
