Okay, so here is my situation:

I have a pair of JBL LSR 305s hooked up as outputs on a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 via XLR to 1/4" TRS. The inputs of the 6i6 are my computer via USB and my record player via 1/4" RCA. However, this means that I need to have the computer on to listen to Vinyl, which I don't really want. Is there a way I can run the record player to an external volume control of some sort and then to the speakers directly so I can avoid using the USB interface? I've been wanting to get a small tube amp for it anyway - maybe one of those could work? I have a 1/4 TRS input available on the JBLs.

Thanks for the help

Solution
Record player ----> ANY AMPLIFER ----> speakers.

If record player has LINE OUT, ur all set.

If record player has PHONO OUT, then you need a phono preamp, quite inexpensive, between player and amplifier.

Right, that's what I meant by external volume control. So would the tube amp option work? Run the RCA into the amp and then RCA to 1/4 TRS out to the speakers? With the computer running USB into the DAC and XLR out to the speakers??
