I have a microphone that automatically turns on AGC by default at random times. When it does, it ruins the recording. I can turn it off in the audio manager for that device, but the setting does not stick. Is there any registry setting I can tweak to remove AGC completely for this mic in Windows 7? It is a CAD u37 USB mic. Thank you.

I can't confirm this works, but try disabling "allow applications..." as per the above link. It may be another program kicking in and ruining your setting.
Make sure you've got the appropriate MIC selected.
