Hello All,

Thank you in advance for attempting to help me. I am an above average PC user who built his own PC years ago. I've always had this problem it just seems to have become more amplified as time has gone on. Bad mechanical buzzing coming out through the 3.5mm audio jack. It changes and is lessened with scrolling the mouse, loading a new page and various other sounds when opening applications etc.

Audio Card Info: HTO Omega Striker 7.1 Ver.1.0.55.00

Tower case : Cooler Master http://www.cybbay.com/store/cooler-master-rc-692-kkn2-cm690-ii-advanced-atx-mid-tower.html

Asus p5p43TD pro Motherboard

My first instinct says this could be a grounding issue where the mechanics of the computer are audible through the audio output because of incorrect power distribution somewhere inside the tower. Included is the link to a dropboxed MP3 clip for you to hear as the example. Really, it's very quiet in relationship to audio when playing music etc. The sound is boosted significantly for example.

Can anyone HELP!?

Solution
Have you tried cleaning the connectors and reseating the audio board?
Does the same noise occur if you use mobo audio instead?
If the noise varies with the PC audio output level then adjust that down and raise the volume of your speakers or headphone amp.

I can try resetting the PCI and seeing if that cleans it up. Like I said, extremely quiet so to your point about keeping the PC audio down and bringing up the amp has worked so far however, For recording purposes it comes into my mix when I send a direct line to the DAW. When I boost my tracks it can sometimes boost along with it and that s no good. In all honesty never used the Mobo audio I built it for the way I needed but will try that too! Good reply thanks!

CPU s Authority: It's custom built and using the 3.5mm Audio out directly from the sound card mentioned.

I basically have this figured out. The Mobo solution was pretty efficient and that the noise floor is lower there. It is now a dedicated output for my specific audio software needs and routing has changed a little but will work cleanly for all intents and purposes. Although, my problem was never really addressed even though I think some people are capable of helping me solve the problem as a 1st time user. Shame shame Tom's audio.
