Hey folks,

I picked up a KS8000 (55" if that matters) in the Best Buy sale a few weeks ago and I've really loved it overall. A couple days ago though all of a sudden I started having this issue where the YouTube app on the TV will only stream videos in 480p (using the 'Stats for Nerds' options to see the resolution) or occasionally 720p on some shorter videos. Whereas before it would stream in 1080p or 4K with no issue at all. I have made no changes to my home network anytime in the last few weeks so I don't know what has changed.

My network connection does not seem to be the issue, I have run speed tests with both speedtest.net and fast.com on both my desktop (wired) and my phone (wireless of course) and all of them are showing my full download speed of 90Mbps or close to it. Running the same tests on the TV itself through the web browser shows interesting results. The fast.com test shows ~80Mbps each time I do it, which seems reasonable, but when I run the speedtest.net test I'm only getting around 1.5Mbps through the TV.

Interestingly, other streaming services seem to work just fine. I've got The OA streaming in 4K on Netflix right now, I tested Amazon with The Grand Tour earlier and that seemed to be fine. It's just YouTube. However I am having no issues streaming YouTube in HD on my desktop or phone.

I've already tried a few things with no luck:

1.Reset router.
2.Switch TV between wired and wireless connection, no difference.
3.Clear cookies from YouTube app on TV.
4.Factory reset TV.

I'm kind of out of ideas here and would appreciate any help in getting this issue resolved. I watch a lot of YouTube videos on my TV so this is really aggravating.

Thanks for any help.

Now if the video you are viewing has the resolution available you can always force it to HD by clicking the machine wheel icon, at least on my browser. Youtube suppose to adjust your max display quality by the Internet connection but I really don't know if it does that dynamically or store that setting somewhere, am wildly guessing that setting for your TV is stuck.

I tried my Samsung TV and the maximum resolution I can play at is 720p
I tried the YouTube APP and the TV internet browser and its the same.
YOUTUBE has changed from flash to HTML5 for the video player so that's probably why the TV's are now restricted to 720p
