Bluray no sound

Had a similar issue, but there is not enough detail in the original question. it doesn't state how the Bluray player is connected. I am assuming it is connected to the TV, and all TV audio is going to the sound bar.
Also does not say if there is any audio on the TV, but hopefully the following will help.

Sony BDP-S490 BluRay Player
Panasonic TX-50DX700B TV
HDMI connection
No sound (good/great picture)

Tried 'all' of the Audio options on TV and Bluray Player to no avail.
Eventually gave up and phoned Panasonic UK who immediately directed me to an incompatibility with HDMI.

Panasonic Remote-Menu-Setup-HDMI Auto Setting-<select HDMI port>, change from Mode2 {default} to Mode1

This changes from HDMI v2 to HDMI v1.x

BDP manual does not specify version in specification, so I am guessing it is v1.x.
(sound OK from Humax to HDMI1 which is Mode2, and I tested with the same cable, so I assume the cable wasn't the problem)

Maybe Sharp (and others) have a similar setting.
