Seems you may need to purchase a product to do what you want to work with the 4k media. Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas are two that come to mind. I say this because you don't seem to want to downscale the 4k to 1080p and then continue using WMM or other apps.

Actually the reason is to make my videos smaller so it doesn't take 4 days to upload a 4k video. YouTube does upload in 4k up to 60fps.

I need to be able to cut my videos down prior to upload but I can't find any basic 4k editors. My upload speed is so bad.

I downloaded it and tried it but it's all screwed up. This, along with OpenShot both claim 4K support but videos don't play and won't convert properly and I cannot edit at all. I'm using plain AVI format, really generic HD you know. My system is more than ample to edit 4K content, after all I game and screen record in 4K. An example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq3btHU35aY that is my youtube channel.

I wish Windows Movie Maker could simply output in 4K. Why is it so hard to output in 4K? Isn't it the same file format but just more data? I don't understand why no one supports 4K editing fully after all the time that 4K has been out.

I have a
5820 @4GHz
8GB Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1080
16GB Corsair Veng. 3000MHz DDR4 RAM @13-13-13-14
2TB HDD
250GB SSD
Win 10 Pro 64bit

For both programs I installed twice just to be sure. Working with 1080p videos no issues but as soon as I load in a 4K video options are all greyed out and the video won't even play when in the editor, let alone edit it then convert to 4K in any other formats.

All I wanted was to cut videos then convert to WMV or keep as AVI for upload. The videos are colossal, like 20GB for a 5 minute video. It's too much to upload. Was thinking I'd cut out segments of the videos to save size and therefore save upload time.

if I were OK with less than 4K video I could easily use Windows Movie Maker. I need 4K edit then output :(

I'm screen recording 4K gaming (AVI and MP4 formats only) with Bandicam. The codecs I have are all from MPC-HC x64 (basically just Windows Media Player) with K-Lite Codec Pack. It has everything. I play my videos just fine. I convert my videos from 4K to 1080p just fine. I can't find a program that will let me cut/split-up 4K MP4/AVI to 4K any format. Don't care about formats since YouTube takes most common formats, but taking 4K then outputting to 1080p is not worthwhile. I can easily do this already.
