You're going to want at least 8GB ram. I'm playing with 8GB ram and using 6.9GB out of 8GB. Even with the lowest settings you might have issues.

As for the GPU I have a desktop GPU (1050Ti 4GB) and that only uses 1.5GB of Vram on high settings. (I'm averaging 120FPS @ 2560x1080)

I'm more than confident with a ram upgrade you'd be at least be able to play it at 60FPS.

Yeah, I recommend you add another 4GB of RAM. You can still run it with 4GB of RAM, but it will be swapping data back and forth between RAM and the hard drive which will reduce performance it bit.

The 940m is too weak to play GTA V at 1080p at 60 FPS. According to the game benchmarks in the link below, the 940m can run the game at an average of about 55 FPS at 1366x768 using medium settings. The laptops used for testing have at least 8GB of RAM.
