Hi so my friend's laptop is an Acer Aspire E1-410 and it won't start (just black screen) even though the fan is running and there's a blue light and yellow light (for battery charging)

I have tried removing ram and hard drive and still won't boot/start (still black screen)

I also tried using my hard drive and ram and same result

I connected his hard drive and ram on my laptop and it is fully functioning.

So is there one answer for this? the motherboard is dead?

Thanks!

EDIT: Forgot to add i also tried the remove battery and ac adapter then press hold the power button for 20sec then connect ac adapter and turn it on.but it didn't work still black screen, blue light is on

Solution
So it sounds like it is actually running, but you are getting nothing on the screen. Sounds from inside and lights showing up to me sounds like it is turning on. If that is the case, try the following...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as...

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the motherboard be replaced.
