HP desktop has had to be sent back to repair so many times the # of times the MS Office key can b downloaded is nil

if it was that easy there'd be no problem. MS says it will only allow so many downloads of MS Office on one key. I can't get HP to write a letter to prove their repair wipe is causing the need to reinstall so many times on the Same computer...
Try try again with microsoft, eventually you will get someone that will allow you to redownload it.
You should have repair tickets or warranty receipts or something to prove that you had to send it in for warranty, and you can offer to email that to ms to prove it.
When you do get another downlod, BACK IT UP.
