Hi,

Config 1: graphic card GTX960M with 2gb dedicated ram

Config2: graphic card GTX1050M with 4gb dedicated ram

For a non-gamer, is the Config 1 sufficient ? Will it be useful to spend more money and get Config 2, just for a better video quality (movies, videos etc.) ?

Regards.

For a non gamer, you don't need more than the integrated graphics inside the cpu. The quality of your movies will depend solely on the resolution and type of display on your laptop.

For gaming, the 1050 should represent a far better value, as it should cost not more than $100 compared to a 960m while performing equal to a 970m.

If you like to, and if you have any idea, would you like to comment on the display quality of Msi GL62-7QF model.

It is advertised as "94% NTSC wide-view panel" ... no more detail ..

Also how does it compare to display quality of Asus ROG GL552vw, and IPS display panels in general.

Regards.

IPS display is generally more enjoyable than TN display. Images are sharper and vivid in contrast level and clearer in brightness level compared with those on regular TN panels. Hence, images are more vivid even from left and right side of the viewing angle. TN though has a faster response time and refresh rate than IPS display, something ultra competitive gamer/ frames per second aficionado would care more about and wouldn't make a difference for most of us.

The Asus GL552vw is known to have problems with its screen: its terrible contrast impacts on every department, with insipid-looking games that serve up indistinct dark areas and a lack of punch where color should be bursting from the panel.

I think the MSI GL62-7QF is a better option , chiefly because of the GL552VW's distinct lack of screen quality.

===============

Any idea if the Msi GL62-7QF has a TN display or a PLS display ?

They have mentioned nothing about that clearly on their website.
Only thing they mention is:
IPS level panel (optional)
94% NTSC wide-view panel (optional)
wide-view, 100% sRGB
** This feature may vary by SKU and country.

And the product available in India, has no clarity on that too:
