I'm using an Asus K43SA laptop. Last year my laptop charger stopped working and I took it to a local laptop repair centre. They told me the board inside the adapter dried out. And told me that the whole board should be replaced. They Changed the whole board (I Believe) and gave me back the charger and I paid for it. Then after a while the laptop started to overheat (It's got ice cool technology and all) and eventually the battery became weak. Also sometimes the laptop won't even turn on. This all happened after repairing the charger. Sometimes the processor fan runs so fast that it scares me.

So then I read somewhere about checking the voltage of charger and then I borrowed a multi meter and then I tested it. My laptop charger's output is 19 V. When I checked it, the voltage was 19.74 V. When I checked some YouTube videos about testing the charger the 19.5 V charger shows 19.57 V whereas the 19 V charger shows 18. 8 V.

Please tell me if this really is problem of the charger. I want replace both charger and the battery now. I was only gonna replace the battery then I found this.

So should I get a new charger or leave it just like that.

Help!

Solution
If I have to guess, I say 0.7v doesn't make any difference.

Reason is, the battery doesn't really use 19v, it's reduced, via a regulator to something like 14.8v

Overheat is obviously no good but I doubt it's caused by 0.7 over volts.

But I read in a website that a small variation in voltage can be harmful to the laptop. The heating is really bad and this started happening after the replacement of the charger.
