I have an hp envy model m6-k012dx. I have been having issues with the battery and charging. It charged last night and I was going to install software the required the laptop to be plugged to achieve adapter. When I plugged it in the adapter light was white in stead of amber and the computer didn't recognize that I had plugged it in. I tested the adapter on another pc and it was fine. The battery was a 70 percent when I noticed the issue and the battery drained after a couple of hours. Now windows won't load unless the battery is disconnected. When the battery is connected and the ac is plugged in the power light flashes the computer turns on and the screen will light up but nothing else happens. If I disconnect the battery and have ac plugged in it boots with no issues

Sounds to me like you need to replace the adapter. Even though you say it worked in another device to run it. If it isn't the exact same laptop, there is no way to get true results as different ones take different things.

A good test would be to leave the battery in, but turn off the laptop and see if it will charge the battery then. If it charges when off, then your adapter is not putting out enough power to both run the laptop and charge the battery.
