I plan on possibly getting a gaming laptop a few months down the road and i have been looking into different laptops but i can never seem to find any decent ones or even a lot of them. So i decided to ask here.

So for a price of 800 to maybe 1400 USD but ill only go that high if i really need/want to which im hoping i wont. It doesnt have to be as strong as my desktop which has an i7 4790k and a msi gtx 1080 because i know a laptop in that range will be crazy expensive. As for a gpu i would like something like at least a gtx1060 maybe.

I will most likely be mainly gaming on my desktop and therefore my most demanding games will probably be exclusively played on it but i still need and want a desktop partly for college.

Also when a laptop has a gtx 1060 is that equivalent to the desktop 1060 in performance?

I wouldn't really go with Amazon, usually they're a little more expensive and less customization.

Here are a few other options though:
If you're looking for 17 inches:
http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8174-clevo-p670hp6.html?startcustomization=1
About $1260 if you get rid of the SSD.
(DO NOT GET THE STOCK M.2 IT'S WORSE THAN REGULAR SSDs)

15.6 inch screen
http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8155-clevo-p650hp3.html?startcustomization=1
$1,100 (No OS, but can add for like $70)

Finally, if you're set on a cheaper laptop:
http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np6852-clevo-n850hk1.html?startcustomization=1
$900

Can get a 1050 for $800.

Best bet would be to go with xoticpc or cyberpower imho.

Edit:

Should note...

Yeah, there is... but you would end up paying $200 extra.

https://www.amazon.com/Prostar-P650HP3-i7-7700HQ-Bluetooth-Warranty/dp/B01MS67B0V/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1486652279&sr=8-7&keywords=clevo

Another option:
https://www.gentechpc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Build-Sager-NP8155
$1,150 with 16GB RAM. Using the coupon: PROMOSPRO on checkout. (You get a 3% discount without having to use cash with this promo).

Gentech has an option to put coollabs liquid ultra plus on your laptop for free. Liquid metal thermal can reduce temps in a laptop by 10-15 degrees... which helps control heat in the laptop. Making it more comfortable. Liquid metal is pretty easy to apply, but if you're inexperienced and make a major mistake, it can short the CPU/GPU. So having them apply it for free is nice :)

I've never purchased from Gentech before, but I've heard decent reviews from them. I also plan on purchasing from them relatively soon. Suppose I will be able to tell you about there service in a bit, ha.

You can definitely find laptops on Amazon, but they're usually slightly overpriced. I'm not sure if this is because Amazon takes a cut, or what... but Prostar is another Clevo reseller and their site has options that are less expensive than amazon for the same hardware.

But what size/weight were you expecting in a laptop? That really determines what laptop you would end up wanting. I would suggest a Clevo in most instances, as they have similar hardware to MSI, but they're slightly cheaper. I also like the cooling in Clevos moreso than MSI. I'm also not sure if MSI laptops use copper heatsinks or not, which would mean no liquid metal if you go the Gentech route.

@Velo

Sure, I've used CyberPowerPC, and xoticPC, both went smoothly... so I didn't experience the hiccups that some people encounter.

I have heard GentechPC is a really good laptop provider, as they fix their mistakes promptly. For example, some guy had a failed graphics card (which isn't necessarily their fault) however, he was able to send it in, and they swapped the card for a better one. He had to pay the difference between the two cards, but most would just force you to get a new laptop.

GentechPC comes with 2 year part replacement warranty on most of their Clevo laptops. Which is why I would recommend going Clevo, but that's just me. I personally like the laptops that have both a desktop CPU and a desktop GPU. For example, these guys:

https://www.gentechpc.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=Sager-NP9152

SLI version:

**NOTE**
You can find these laptops by any reseller really, xoticpc, cyberpowerpc, pro star, eurocom... list goes on. I just point out GentechPC because they have free liquid metal thermal, and 2 year part replacement warranty. As well as lifetime labor IIRC. (You have to pay for shipping when sending to their facility, however).

Pro Star and GentechPC are both supposedly pretty good at fixing their mistakes. However, I haven't personally purchased from either. CyberpowerPC drags their feet when it comes to fixing their products... however, xoticPC is a decent provider.

If you want a big name provider, go with xotic.
