Help! I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series and I have to keep it on the charger for it to function. While clicking on the battery icon it says "0% not charging". I just recently changed the battery in the laptop so that is not the issue here. If anyone has any ideas of what might be wrong with it and how I can fix it that would help me a lot. I have to have my laptop for college and it is very frustrating having to be plugged in every time I need to use it! TIA!

Well changing the battery doesn't always fix the problem. If the battery was an aftermarket one, it is possible that it isn't the exact needed battery. It happens. If you still have the old one, I would be comparing the two for voltage, physical size, connection locations, etc.

If there is nothing wrong on that end, try turning off the laptop and see if it will charge the battery. If it charges when off, but not when on, then the charger is not putting out enough power to both run the laptop and charge the battery. It would then need replacing.
