Suddenly my laptop is freezing up n not responding properly. I can't go online although the internet connection is fine. I can't do a system restore an error message says:
WeFault.exe application error the instruction at 0x745CC8D7 referenced memory at 0x745CC8D7. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc0000185. Click on OK to terminate the program.
Basically nothing I try makes a difference. I tried to pull up ms word n even that took forever. Even in safe mode it's the same. The start button is incredibly slow n doesn't respond as it should. I just did a start up repair but it didn't change anything. Is it infected with a virus?

As I said, that program isn't a virus. There is just the possibility that you have a virus that is causing that program to not work correctly. So before getting all over the top about it, install and run some antivirus and malware checking and removal software. There is no need to jump ahead. Check the system first.
WerFault.exe is a program used in Windows 10. It isn't a virus.

You can run virus checks anyway, should you wish to. There is nothing saying that there isn't one on the computer that is causing the issue to show up.

In the end, however, you may need to do a full reinstall of the OS to get past this.

Thanks, I was hoping a reinstall to be the last option. Btw I've been using windows 7 starter for a while. Is there anything I could try to resolve the issue before the last resort? How will I be able to back up my data, files, bookmarks, etc if it's a virus, won't the virus be in the back up too? I've gone through this before but a long time ago…
