Del Inspiron 15 5000 series base don TTYFJA00 DP/N
Power cable was exposed white and blue leads appears OK but the bare earth seems to be exposed.
The Battery has been removed and a new charger applied.
The results are no screen activation - no backlight either. With or without battery/charger etc the front LHD light blinks orange 2 times and then blinks white 5 times (2 orange, 5 white) until the Power button is pushed off.
The system has power with battery and you can eject the DVD bay (which is empty).
HDMI might be the next test - to see if the APU graphics chip is outputting something

It would be good to find a manual that does supply the meaning for (2 o + 5 w).

It may be the display only and not the laptop. If other things are working. Should that be the case, try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.

If you can't see on the external monitor at all, or the problem occurs on the external monitor as well, then it is probably the graphics card/GPU that is the problem, which may require the...
