Bose sound bar connected and no sound when playing Netflix?

I connected a Bose sound bar to a new Samsung 65 inch 4K television. I connected the sound bar to the direct tv receiver with an optical cable. Sounds great! When I switch the tv to Netflix or Amazon Prime Movies I am getting no sound. Why?

A
If the soundbar is connected to your DTV box then there is no way for sound to get to it from the TV itself. Connect it to the TV instead. Check the TV manual for how to use the optical output.
