I have had this laptop for about 2 years now and have never had a problem. About a week ago I went to turn it on and it wouldn't power up, so I figured it was just dead. I plugged it in to the charger, powered it up, but on my desktop screen the charging icon said "plugged in and not charging" then it will randomly switch to saying "plugged in and charging" but the battery icon is still completely empty. I can only work the laptop while the charger is plugged in now. I do not have a removable battery. I'm hoping the battery isn't shot because it wasn't draining quickly before this happened. Any solutions? Suggestions?

Unfortunately, battery is one component of laptops that doesnt have a lot of interaction with your windows.
Did you check in Power Options whether anything has changed in settings???
Do you remember making any configuration changes in hardware???
Is this still under warranty???
Have you spoken to their customer support???

Unfortunately, my warranty is expired. I did check the power options and nothing has changed. I haven't made any changes with the hardware. I can't ask the Lenovo tech support because I don't have warranty, apparently.

You can always take advice from tech support. They wont charge you for that. They will charge you if they have to service it for any fault. And unless they go through troubleshooting(if applicable) with you, they wont be able to determine the fault.
But in all probability, it seems like your battery needs some kind of repair/servicing/replacement.
Have a word with them and let us know.
