my laptop screen goes black mostly when im looking at something dark. also when im looking at lightly colored things like a webpage there are tiny flikiring white dots all over the screen. sometimes my monitor will start working like normal but when i restart computer it breaks again. i have an external monitor hooked up and it works fine. i would also like to know should this be a problem with the monitor will it require a new motherboard .

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.
You need to first check the ribbon cable that connects the display to make sure there aren't any pinched parts, bends, tears, dents, etc., in the cable. If there are, it would need to be replaced. Also, even if none of those are on the cable, try unplugging it and replugging it in to the display and the motherboard. If it had been loose you could get issues.
If none of that works, you probably need a new display.
