What are you going to use it for?

Some Linux distros are quite light and there is a lot of open source software to choose from. For just basic office needs and web browsing, Ubuntu is a pretty good choice. They took care of all the hard Linux stuff, basically boots up asks for network settings and is good to go.

Windows can obviously run windows applications, direct x natively, etc. Pretty much the go-to platform for gaming. As to which version, well, the T4500 might make that choice for you. I will do a little research.

I hate looking up Windows 10 compatibility, so much old stuff to sort through. Anywhos, looks like the T4500 can actually run Windows 10, so it would be my recommendation for Windows. You can uninstall and disable most of the appstore and cortana crap that would drag on the CPU.

But if there is an underlying hardware problem, you should take care of that, or get yourself a cheap laptop from a retail store, it will be much faster.

with that hardware i would dualboot windows 10 and linux mint or any other popular distro, linux has become so good that once you set hardware the way you need it, you will only keep windows in the hard disk for compatibility purposes
