Boot menu on restart by depressing F2 repeatedly or holding down or morse SOS pattern will work to access bios but choosing Legacy or any other choice to reboot will not work on gateway laptop... Msg says on black screen "Broadcon UNDI PXE-2.1 v12.2.0.... Copyright (C) 2000-2009 Broadcom Corporation... Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation .... All rights reserved. ..... Client MAC ADDR: 70 5A B6. D5. 8B. 59. GUID: 40198687 F984 2099 05F2 705AB6D58B59.... PXE-E53: No boot filename received.... PXE-MOF: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM." Followed by blinking -

It shouldn't delete anything, but be aware flashing BIOS to resolve a problem should be your last resort. If something wrong goes with flashing, you have BRICKED the laptop.

The Broadcom message is referring to the BIOS attempting to boot from LAN, nobody do that these days, you should DISABLE this. Are u able to boot into BIOS and make changes? Have you clear CMOS yet?
