Hello,

I'm an owner of a laptop asus UX303L. The machine is 2 years old.
I've been facing some serious issues with my hard drive. After several unsuccessful attempts to fix it, I chose to get it rid of it and replace it with a new SSD (previous was HDD). I ensured to put everything back as it was originally.

For one week, my laptop was doing great, nothing to report.

After that, it kept working fine but when i turn it off, the OS stops as usual (so far no problem) but when the screen turns black and i want to close the laptop I notice light on the power button.

At first I didn't notice it as I usually turn off my laptop when I'm dead asleep in my bed. Still when i wake up i find the battery completely drained!
This problem happens like 8 times out of 10, so every time I'm obliged to force the machine to turn off by holding the power button for few seconds.

Few days after, the problem gets more serious: laptop won't boot unless it's plugged in otherwise it doesn't answer back when i press the power button.
The battery icon (on windows tab) says NO BATTERY DETECTED, but when i click on it to see details it shows 100% FULLY CHARGED.

Even more puzzling, the laptop keeps running when I unplug it! I'm able to keep working on it with without a charger plugged, but then the battery icon says "remaining life unknown".

I run a windows 10 battery health check and apparently it can't recognize my battery (which i didn't change and it's OEM).

I'm quite confused right now, can't tell if the battery is not well in place it's only a driver problem or worse it could be dying / already dead.

Would be so thankful for any help as I don't want to take my laptop to a reparation store and pay an arm and a leg again.

Sounds more like a motherboard hardware issue than anything else. Not seeing the battery, not actually turning off all the way. Don't see how the system can run with the plug out and the battery out also, that seems pretty impossible. The system needs power from somewhere to run.

How long does your battery last now?
It's been my experience that replacing the power supply (a cheap fix) and then maybe the battery fixes most of these kinds of problems. But not always. BTW, SSDs often consume MORE power than traditional HDDs.
Also check your power savings settings, now that you've converted to an SSD. It might still be trying to tell your SSD to shut down inappropriately. An SSD should not be powered down as long as you're computer is running.
You will find the setting in your power plan - which will be found in your control panel.
Hope I helped.

my battery is still working fine, if i keep the laptop plugged in enough time (until the battey is fully charged), i can use it for 3 to 4 hours afterwards.
the only problem is that it displays all the time "no battery detected", so i can't really tell if it's fully charged or see how it's being drained.

where can i check the power settings for my SSD?
