Hi guys,

I got my new philips 6100 series hooked up to my yamaha av reciever.
When I turn on my av reciever, the tv says that external speakers are connected, but there isn't any sound coming from the speakers.
I got the reciever on the HDMI IN1, where the hdmi cable is connected.

Anyone knows the problem here?

Thanks for your time!

If you are trying to use ARC to get audio from the TV to the receiver with the same cable that gets video from the receiver to the TV you need ARC in both the TV and the receiver. You need to use the HDMI input on the TV labeled ARC from the HDMI out on the receiver. You need to turn ARC on in the TV and select it as your source on the receiver.
If you don't have it in both then use the optical audio output of the TV. It may also need to be turned on, the TV speakers turned off and the audio output set to surround sound in the TV set up or audio menu.

What do you mean with set the tv to HDMI 3? I get TV(video and audio) from a entone box. I want to send the audio with a different HDMI cable, from HDMI 2, to the AV reciever.

Nope, like I said in my answer above, I get TV(video and audio) from a entone tv box. Now I want to send the audio from my TV from a different channel(HDMI 2, while I get the TV in on HDMI 1) to the AV reciever. I tried to send the audio and video from the entone first to the reciever and then to the TV but that doesn't work either.

The HDMI ports on a TV are INPUT PORTS (audio signal uni-directional), except if a specific port is marked ARC, but you seems to suggest no ARC, so moving forwarding with this assumption.

U also seems to suggest there is a cable provider set-top box, in which case you don't take the audio from the TV, you take it directly from the Set-top box. Set-top box TO receiver.

Both HDMI input's on the TV are ARC. If I take the HDMI port from the Set-top box to the AV reciever, and from the AV reciever to the TV, I dont get any video nor audio. I should put the Set-top box to the HDMI IN and the TV to the HDMI out right?

The above should work. The only thing I can think of is first generation HDMI quirky difficulty.

Try 2 connections

set-top ----(HDMI)---->TV
set-top ----(Toslink)---->Receiver

Aint giving me something aswell. Should I do something different with the settings in the Reciever?

Oh and about the first gen HDMI cable, I first had one connected from TV to Receiver and the TV did nothing. I bought a new cable and the TV now said that external speakers were connected, but they didn't gave me audio.
