I generally prefer Avast Free anti-virus:

If you cannot download any anti-virus software, then that means your laptop has been infected with a virus and it is preventing you from downloading any anti-virus software to remove it. If that is the case, then your best option is to backup any important files on the C: drive and then do a reinstall of Windows. Your laptop should have come with some instructions on how to do a reinstall.

If you are running Windows 10, then to reinstall a clean copy of it you need to click on the Windows icon in the lower left hand corner. Then click the icon that looks like a gear; moving the mouse over it will identify it as "Settings". From there click on "Update & Security", then click "Recovery" in the left column. After that click the "Get Started" button to reset the PC. It will give you the option to keep your files, but that only applies to files saved in the C: drive under the Users / <User Name> folder.

If you have other files on the C: drive saved elsewhere, then you must manually back them up yourself.
