Hey all,

So I think today my laptop decided to kick the bucket. I've been noticing over the last few weeks when browsing the internet a few pictures would display incorrectly. I could make them out but they would be pretty much static. What's weird tho is the "static" would be localised to the one picture... Anyway today I was on Facebook and the laptop decided it would do this static trick to the entire display! For what ever reason I thought plugging it into power would fix it. Wrong. As soon as plugged the power into the side the computer went straight off!!

Now when I attempt to turn the laptop on I get nothing. The screen doesn't turn on at all. I can hear the fans run as well as the disc drive spin up but other then that nothing. The HDD light is off, the battery charge and power lights are on.

Could this be corrupt ram? The static being localised to one picture makes me believe so.

Any help would greatly appreciated!!

Solution
Try this...

1. Turn the laptop off (not sleep or hibernate but off).
2. Connect an external monitor to the laptop.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

NOTE: You may have to press an "external monitor" button. Could be the f4 button or a button with two monitors on it, for the external monitor to work.

If you can see fine on the external monitor, then your attached display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, are your problem.
