Samsung laptop won't turn on, LEDs not lighting up

I am using a Samsung Ativ Book 2 with WINDOWS 8 for 1-2 years ago. When I press the start button, the screen stays dark, LEDs won't light up. No matter how fast I can press, nothing will happen. And I'm afraid of getting a computer as it will erase all my data. I tried to hold the start button for 30 seconds but no luck

Anyone help?

Try the following and see if it will turn on...

1. First make sure the device has been charged.
2. Unplug your charger cord.
3. Remove the battery.
4. Press and hold the "Power" button for 30 seconds and see if the device will turn on.
5. If it does, great, if not yet, no big deal. Now plug back in the power/charger cord. (If it didn't turn on without the cord in, it should turn on once you it is in. Yes sometimes they will turn on, or try to turn on, even with nothing attached/plugged in.)
6. Now put the battery back in.

If this doesn't help, then test the power cord to see if it is good. Either try your cord in another device, or try another devices cord in your laptop.

Should that not be the problem, then check the battery to see if it needs replacing.

Are you certain that the laptop itself isn't turning on? No sounds at all from inside (fan, hard drive, etc.,)? If there are sounds inside but just the screen stays dark, that would be a very different issue.

DrEggman1026, what do you mean by "afraid of getting a computer as it will erase all my data"? so with power adapter connected to the laptop, the laptop's charge light is not on at all. correct? do you have or know anybody with a volt-meter\multi-meter to see if the power adapter is outputting the correct voltage?

webworkings, no lights mean no power therefore laptop won't turn on.

Actually the lights can be out while the laptop still has power. It happens. Hence my clarification question.

the capacitors on the laptop are not big enough to do that compared to the psu in a desktop.
