hey i'm sorry if this is a dumb question but ive literally been working on this for days and reading/watching stuff and i cant figure it out. i have the camcorder Panasnic HC-VX981 and im trying to make it focus on only me & everything else blur out. ive set it to manual, and ive read online that you have to play around with the aperture & iso but i dont see the settings on my camera. i only see: iris, shutter, WB, & focus. if i make the iris really low, everything is too dark & i cant see anything. if i mess around with the shutter, i just get two weird lines. when i try to focus it, it just blurs everything out or just focuses everything. i have a 58 mm lens on it. if anyone could help me figure this out id be really grateful.

The iris controls the aperture. The iris is the mechanical part and the aperture is how big of an opening you have to let light in. Below are some links that will do a better job of explaining it than I can.

I hope the above helps. Are you at a good distance from the background you would like to have blurred while you remain clearly in focus?
