HDMI TV Connection trouble shoot with laptop

My laptop is connected to my tv via hdmi lead they are working, when i shut down after use, when
I reboot to use again the problem returns my tv isn’t allowing me to select hdmi? I t works them dosent.Help anyone, I don’t know what to click on to set my laptop to use with the tv.

Well The Windows key and the P key at the same time should let you cycle through single screen, second screen, cloned screen, extended screen.

When two devices are connected with HDMI they try to "handshake" with each other. The don't do this constantly so the order you turn things on or select the input can matter. Change the order selecting the input for the laptop and booting up the laptop.
You can also try selecting another active input and then going back to the one the laptop is connected to.
