Connecting internal TV speakers wiring directly to external amplifier with RCA input connection

I am hard of hearing and small flat screen tv speakers make it hard for me to watch tv even with my hearing aids on.
I removed the speakers from an old 15 inch tv ,extended the length of the internal 4 wires and connected them to two Athena
audition series AS-B1-1 speakers. On some you tube video that i stream via roku 3 the sound is too low and if i
increase the volume the speakers pop and have to shut turn the tv off to reset it.If I put a small 20w amp between
between the tv and the speakers would that help?the input for the amp is an rca cable how could i connect the 4
speakers wire from the tv to the amp? thanks

The signal from the TV's speaker wires is an amplified signal, whereas the amplifier you are considering is looking for a line level signal. Likely you will get distortion, unless you use an attenuator as suggested above. Does the TV have any RCA line level output jacks?

Yes it does but when I opened the tv to remove the tv speakers and extended the wiring to connect the Athena speakers I must have eliminated
the RCA output. I also have cable Motorola receiver DCH70 connected to the TV via coaxial cable and Roku 3 connected to the TV via HDMI.
Watching cable tv or Roku 3 the sound is good and the Athena speakers don't pop and there is no static.
The popping of the speakers occurs when I stream old movies from you tube via Roku 3 if I lower the sound I can't hear the TV if I increase the
volume then the speakers pop. I am using an Asus T100 notebook windows 10 and google and no sound enhancements.
I thought if i connect a Lepai 2020 A amplifier between the speakers and the tv my problem is how to connect the output from the TV which
are now 4 wires since I eliminated the RCA output to the amplifier input which are RCA female.

I would re-connect the wires going to the tv's speakers, and use the rca outputs on the tv to connect to the rca inputs on the amplifier. Then you could lower the volume of the tv speakers, and I am guessing that the signal coming out of the rca outputs will be unaffected by this.

The popping noise is the tiny amp in the TV giving up playing your speakers and shutting down.
If the RCA output is not variable and the amp you get doesn't have remote volume control it might be inconvenient.
If that's the case then you could use an speaker to line level converter

to provide a variable input for a basic power amp.
