Have a Dell Inspiron N5110 (I5) -went dead, gave a "2 beep" error code (RAM error)... took it to one PC repair shop 2 months ago, they claimed to have checked the RAM and replaced the MOBO twice, but could not fix the problem. But they didn't charge so that was nice. So ordered a MOBO myself on Ebay for $60 and installed it myself carefully following the instructions on the youtube vid for this model.

I was amazed to see the same exact thing... 2 beep error code... wont boot. So I sent the MOBO back, put the old one in and gave up for a while. Until today... took it to a different PC repair place who charges $35 for a diagnostic, and the guy told me if the MOBO needs replacing, it will be $200.. He explained that his shop does not order bare bones MOBOS but ones with CPU and RAM already added...

Does that sound insane to anyone else? $200 + labor + diagnostic is more then the laptop is worth.. Heck he has used I5 laptops in that shop for $279.. He also said he has never heard of a laptop mobo being as cheap as $60... although I must say, only Ebay seems to have MOBOs that cheap... other sites I googled seemed to be $125+

Any opinion? And thx :)

honestly you shouldn't let him fix it either buy a new laptop or buy the parts your self to be honestly he'll probably buy all of it used on ebay say its brand new to make profit I think he is full of it dude
