Free video editing software?

I'd like to find something that I can use to edit footage from my dashcam, saved as an avi file, and post it to Facebook or Youtube. (I'd love to shame certain people that I have seen do really stupid things repeatedly during the morning commute, and have the dashcam footage to prove it.) I know a lot of other people do it, but I haven't been able to find out how. Any advice?

Thanks. That Lightworks looks nice, but is too limited in the free version. I might need to get footage from my dashcam for evidence in a crash, so I need to save it locally. However, the other lists (don't know why I didn't see those lists when I tried looking it up) were helpful. I think I'm going to try out Blender's video editing capabilities for this.
