Hello friends!

This popping sound problem has been driving me crazy for the past 1 month. I read everything google had to offer, installed latency monitors, ran xperf, updated all of the drivers, tried to pin down the problematic ones, disables speed-stepping in BIOS and basically tried all the other solutions out there. Nothing helped, the popping is still there and it's driving me nuts.

Today though, I finally found a way to stop it. The method is retarded (but hey, if it works it ain't stupid, right?), cause it involves running prime95 while playing sound. When my CPU is at 100% load, the popping disappears completely. Now I at least know that the cause is my goddamn CPU, but how do I solve this problem? Running prime95 every time I want to listen to music or play a movie is not really the ideal solution... My laptop is X1 Carbon 1st gen.

Any ideas? And thanks in advance!

I had a similar problem with motherboard sound.
I uninstalled the sound device before updating the driver.

Past that, look at the contacts for the plug and adapter.

Digging deeper, you may have to find a way to make the sound processing run at a higher cpu dispatching priority.
I do not know how to do that.

Hi geofelt, thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, the above is not a solution for me. As I already mentioned, the CPU is at the helm here. Every time I load it 100% with prime 95, the popping stops. I have tested this numerous times, watching movies and playing music, so it's not about the drivers (all of which are up to date).

I have also tried prioritizing all sound-related processes, (you can do that with help of Process Hacker program, btw), doesn't help either.
