Greetings laptop gurus!
My gigabyte P35W v3 very slowly but progressively begins to freeze when attempting to use applications that push the CPU/GPU.
Most times games will hang in loading screen, become semi functional (able to manipulate some controls but not others), or freeze all together.
Sometimes while loading/playing games, the desktop taskbar will vanish and windows itself will become sluggish.
Mouse will be functional and be able to manipulate icons and windows but otherwise will not initiate execution of any applications (ie the app 'icon' will highlight and/or show the 'reciprocating animation' when clicked, but the associated application will never load)
After about 5 minutes, the computer screen will hard freeze. Any music/audio being played through the speakers will continue for a time.
Internal voltage/temperatures of CPU/GPU/RAM show normal with occasional excursions of up to 85/90 degrees Celsius on the CPU. I can see/hear my fans running...guess they are not doing much.
Prime95 torture tests have gotten my CPU up to 90*C as well! Super hot...
However, simultaneous monitoring of core temperatures during progressive freezes has shown normal temps (~40*C), until crash.
Laptop functions normally while idle or under a light load when using web browsers and audio applications.
A clean install of windows 10 has been performed with negative results.
I'm within the 2 year warranty window with gigabyte.
Thoughts?
Regards,
Chest
