I have been considering a gaming laptop for around 1000 euros and I have shortened the list down to an Asus 552VW. There are two models that I'm aware of it, one having a metal lid and another having a plastic lid.

(Plastic Lid) http://www.trustedreviews.com/asus-rog-gl552vw-review
(Metal Lid) http://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/laptops/asus-rog-gl552

According to a trusted reviews article, the plastic lid was a deal breaker as it was too poor quality to work with and endure, and recommended the metalic model. Separately, take note that the screen/LCD was said to be poor and inconsistent according to the article. Which brought me to researching the metal lid model. However, what I found in the Laptop Mag article is that some points are completely contrasting. Laptop Mag in this case said that the laptop they tested had a very good screen, in contrast to Trusted Reviews article. Take note too they're reviews on the track pad.

Ultimately, any other opinions or recommendations would be appreciated.

the opinions on those two sites are just that, opinions

it is supposedly a review but in the end, is what the writer shares as a opinion

i personally dislike all metallic pcs because i don't like to touch metal, especially on a gaming laptop that will get hot amking that metal even more unconfortable to touch

if you plan on using the laptop as laptop, then the metalling part is important because it makes the machine more rigid, but not by much on some models

if you don't plan on moving that laptop much, i would buy the plastic one and get a good 24" monitor because play on a laptop is a bit annoying honestly, small screen, lod fans, hot keyboard and battery won't last 3 hours

I see your point. Yeah the metalic element being important on a laptop makes sense (Though it will only be on the lid). The other thing is the screen.

There have been a lot of mixed reviews on the screen/LCD quality by the colors and usually all reviews have very similar opinions on screen quality. In this case however, they are very contrasting and I'm wandering whether there are just different sort of models to the GL552VW? In my case I will need to use a laptop as a laptop so perhaps I should create a new thread discussing the GL552VW screen quality?

that is aposibility but most time when a review is done, it is made with the same laptop or at least the same model

so we see a difference in opinions a big one

one says that the screen is bad and the other says that is decent

in general if you see real color valuers, accuracy of collors and the screen is mate, not glossy, well, i would buy it unless i find another better laptop or decide to build or buy a gaming pc, as i said, depends on what you plan to do with it and also, the budget
