Whenever I plug my headphones into the front panel audio jack, the computer does not detect them.

My motherboard is an MSI MS-7512.
I have a SB Audigy sound card that works, but prefer not to use. All drivers are up to date. I have verified that the front panel is connected properly to the motherboard.

Solution

could be your front panel jack got broken,
my main pc have a damaged front jack so i use an usb external sound card
also check the connection of the cable to the jacks, maybe on the motherboard its connected, but at the pc audio jack its loose
