Laptop "failed configuring windows update" loop

Hey everyone,
I've got a Samsung NP365E5C-S04US laptop and I have tried literally everything to fix this problem I have been having. I got the laptop a couple years ago and it worked great. It got to the point where it was starting to act sluggish so, I backed up all of my data I wanted to keep and did a full reset on it and ever since then I have had a problem with it trying to update and getting caught in a loop of failing updates and it does this for 30 min to an hour and then brings me back to the login screen. I am pretty tech savvy and I don't really ask for much computer help because I usually know what I am doing but, I am to the point of major frustration with this laptop. Has anyone else had this problem? I have even tried to install Windows 10 with the media creation tool through download and from a flash drive and it gets about halfway through and the laptop shuts down and when I boot it back up it loads up and says Windows 10 can't be installed. I checked my updates under PC Settings and it says I have 95 updates to do but it will just get stuck trying to update. If there is any way you guys can help me get this straightened out, I would very much appreciate it.

It may be the dreaded Windows 10 update issue.

When connected to the internet, and you do 'some' updates in 10, you can get stuck in a loop. Especially if one of the updating files didn't update correctly. And that doesn't mean the problem is on your end. Sometimes Windows updates are just a pain and have errors, so you have to wait and try another time.

If this is what is happening to you, then only way I know of to resolve it, is after the system tries to do the update and restart the computer, make sure you disconnect your internet connection to the laptop. Either unhook if an Ethernet connection, or turn off the WiFi in your area before you try again to reboot. It should then stop the device from trying, again and again, to reinstall the problem update.

It's still on Windows 8, it wouldn't update to Windows 10.

I see. Have you still tried the disconnecting fully from the internet and reboot?

Yea, I just disconnected the laptop from the internet and rebooted it and it started up fine. I'm sure it will try to update if I boot it up when it's connected, what can I do to fix that and get it to update properly?

Well it should let you boot while connected now, or you can try connecting to the internet while you are already on the computer. Check for updates and see if it shows you which one didn't work. In most cases though, it will not continue to do that again once you are out of the loop.

I went in and looked at my update history and quite a lot of the 95 updates I had failed and I found an option for a troubleshooter with my windows update system and it said it fixed some kind of database errors with the update system. hopefully that will have fixed it because the names of those 2 looked like they were critical problems with my updates. I also downloaded Ccleaner and used it to fix any registry errors and it fixed quite a lot of missing .dll files. I will be sure to update once I figure out if everything works right now.
