Just yesterday while I was playing I noticed the left control key wasn't working. I've tested every single key in the keyboard and it was the only one that didn't work properly. Now I can't utilize common shortcuts such as ctrl+c, ctrl+v and ctrl+alt+delete! Someone knows or had an experience on how did this happen or a solution for this?

You should be able to use those shortcuts, just using the ctrl key on the other side. :) However, that said, it could be the key itself, it could be something is stuck in the keyboard or the driver could need updating.

But, first try this... press... alt + ctrl + fn ...and see if it works again.

Using the right control is too far for me and takes much more time so its less convenient. I also saw that key combination somewhere before I posted this, but it didn't work for me. What does it do anyway? I've also tried prying out its key but I also don't see any visible dirt underneath it to clean. I am also worried if I should try prying out the keyboard because it is backlit I might damage them...

I would not start prying out keys at this point. :)

Try uninstalling the keyboard driver, reboot the laptop (without reinstalling it) and then when it restarts it should reinstall it on its own.

I would also check to see if it is still under warranty (should the above not fix it) before you do any physical work on it and possibly void the warranty.

Did the uninstall and restart thing 2 times. Doesn't work. Or do I need to remove the password requirement at startup to complete the keyboard initialization?

I don't know how, but I just opened Photoshop and as a muscle memory I used the left ctrl to paste a picture, and suddenly it worked! I do not know how or why, but it works now, so thanks anyways!

Had the same problem and the following worked for me:

1. From Windows Start, search for Device Manager, and open it up

2. In device manager navigate to the Keyboard Standard 101/102, and uninstall the driver

3. Shut down your laptop.

4. Remove the battery, and after you unplug your laptop, wait for 15s.

5. Reboot
