ugrading ram on laptop

so recently i just purchased a new laptop but i planned to upgrade the ram from 4gb to probably 8gb(4gbx2) or 12gb(8gb+4gb) or 16gb(8gbx2), im asking this because im afraid wasting too much money as pc perfomance is depends on all part. pls help me:)

my laptop spec:
intel i5-7200U 2.5ghz base clock turbo boost 3.1ghz
nvidia geforce 940mx gddr5 2gb vram
4gb ddr4 2133mhz
1tb hard drive

my laptop is acer E5-475G, and if im not wrong it is upgradable up to 32gb as what written on the website
 
That is what I find on it anywhere I have looked. So you should be OK to upgrade it. Just make sure you get the right kind of RAM. If it isn't the same as the original (other than GB size of course) :) then it may well not work. I have seen that happen a lot.

Also, since the device is new and still under warranty, I would be sure to check with the manufacturer that doing so won't void the warranty. I know that sounds wrong, but sadly I have seen manufacturers void a warranty for all kinds of things. They may require the upgrade be done through them, or one of their centers. If so, then it is up to you to decide if you want to do it yourself or not. :)

is it worth upgrading to 12gb/16gb rather than 8gb?
