Hi all

My first notebook was in 2008 for like 4 years next in 2012 i bought new one but i feel it was worse. For first i spend like 825$ second 650$ (that cheaper one sucks so fast for gaming). That for 825$ was good for 4 year using.

I want to find balance between price/year.

What is the best time to buy new one (month)?
What is i will say dimishing return price for laptop? (mean if i buy so expensive then in next year the cost will be half for the same one)

My problem is because 1060m gtx looks very nice but 1400-1500$ is kinda overpriced i think.

Solution
Most laptop hardware is weaker than desktop by nature of the electrical power limits, therefore they depreciate faster. However, things are changing now and the price/performance levels really good. I think $850-$1k is the sweet spot right now. Hence the laptop I bought.

But Black Friday does seem the best time to buy. Around that, it's a good idea to get on newegg's newsletter, as they run sales all the time. Just not as big as BF. Have to be careful though, some less honest retailers will start raising prices around the start of October and then sell for the regular price on BF, to make it look like it's a discount.

Kind hard to understand what kind of laptop you want and what is your budget for that, but you should definitely be aware of holiday season specials as there are some good deals around this time of the year.

Hmm in other way

1# U can buy computer about 2500$ it will be good for 6 year
2# U can buy computer about 1000$ it will be good for 4 years and decent for 2 years.

Now u see option one is worse because u spend more money for a little more power.

That 2500$ in next 2 years the cost will be reduced by 50% (i think) and price will look like

1# 1250$
2# 500$

I feel that high end laptops are losing very fast by year.

Maybe i am wrong... and i want to find best price limit.

There is no real specific time to buy a laptop if you are seeking the best price. You simply have to watch prices during holidays and also around Black Friday / Cyber Monday. As an example, the Dell Inspiron 15 7759 laptop linked below with a Core i5-6300HQ CPU, nVidia GTX 960m and 256GB SSD was initially released at over $800 back in Oct / Nov 2015. This is the laptop I purchased recently.

It is currently selling for $740. However, prior to October 2016 it was basically selling for $750. Between roughly Nov. 14th and Nov 30th (Black Friday / Cyber Monday sale season) it sold for $700. After that time, the price dropped to $660 for about two weeks before going back up to it's current price.

"Old" laptops that are still new, meaning it has never been purchased and unboxed, can hold their value and in some rare instances go up in price.

Laptops with the GTX 1060 are fairly expensive because it is new technology and because the GTX 1060's performance is slightly better than the GTX 980m which are found in laptops selling for over $1,200... unless they are on sale....

The 15.6" ROG Strix GL502VM is likely one of the less expensive laptop with the GTX 1060; selling for $1,275.

I think that prices will fluctuate a little here and there, but until AMD competes, there wont be much change. After Christmas the next major sales holiday is usually Memorial Day(USA) at the end of May. But a good idea to watch for sales and special deals. I would expect some nice deals at tech conventions too.

Black Friday is the biggest sale of the year and tends to overshadow Thanksgiving these days.
